Everyone has seen them. They are showing up on everything now including product packaging, magazine ads and even TV ads! You know what I’m talking about but you don’t know what they are called:
Quick Response ”QR” codes. Look, here is one now!
QR codes typically contain as a minimum a website URL but can contain a lot more information (shameless self-advertising follows) like the one below.
You will need to download a QR reader to your iPhone to be able to scan the code in. Search for “QR” using the App Store button on your iPhone and select a free app called “QR Reader for iPhone” appropriately enough.
The QR Reader for iPhone app is of course also available from the iTunes store:
To use QR Reader, you simply tap the QR app icon on your iPhone to open it up and then select the (very) tiny little camera button in the lower right-hand corner.
Center the QR code you want to scan in on the screen and then tap the camera button. If successful, you will be rewarded with a camera shutter sound and you will then be able to click on the QR code button in the lower left-hand corner to be directed to the website URL.
QR Reader also stores any codes you have already scanned in to make it easier for you to use them again.
In my next post, I will show you how you can get your very own QR codes!
